Involvement in leadership opportunities

As students have the chance to explore future goals, they have opportunities to plug into athletics, music, speech and drama, STEM, elective classes, and academic clubs. There are many avenues to focus on personal interests and strengths. Through participation, students develop the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary for success in college.

Speech & Drama

Starting in kindergarten, students begin learning that creative and articulate self-expression leads to effective communication, both on an individual basis and in front of large audiences. All students are encouraged to develop confidence speaking in front of their peers in a classroom setting, while those who wish to further their skill in front of larger crowds are provided ample opportunity. Some students enjoy the comfort of a prepared public reading, while others thrive honing their acting skills as part of skits or short plays.

Through formal speech classes or speech clubs, high schoolers can exercise their talents and sharpen their skills. But even without joining a class or club, students can participate in a number of speaking or acting roles throughout the year in special performance programs. A highlight for many students is the spring Junior-Senior Banquet, which features a student-led thematic program with a variety of creative skits and prepared speeches.

Throughout the school days, students enjoy school spirit days, class activities, and pep rallies, culminating with a special senior trip to Washington, D.C.

At PCA, students approaching graduation have a surplus of opportunities to delve into what they’re interested in and to try new things. Core classes combined with organized opportunities give graduates an advantage as they start their future.
